Description

It is said that a child’s other parent is essentially their sibling as they imitate what their other siblings do and love just like a parent would. Founded by Siblings, our center’s full name being Siblings of Special Needs, we understand the trials and traumas siblings in unconventional homes go through and this programme was curated out of the experiences of several siblings from homes where there was a child or children with one or multiple special needs both home and abroad. It is our love child programme if there ever is one and our way to celebrate the champions called “siblings” that are often time uncelebrated, neglected and misunderstood in such settings.

Siblings Leadership is a programme for 7-17 year old siblings (neurotypical) of children and adults with special needs. It is a 3 years bracket programme (7-11 years olds) (12-14 years olds) (15-17 years olds) allowing them for social interactions with other children from other works of lives who share one very key similarity in their lives, they have a sibling(s) with a special need.

Fostering healthy interaction and fun gatherings for siblings aid emotional and mental intelligence and takes away the weight of self-loneliness on dealing with issues a child might think is prevalent to only his/her family. It fosters new friendships and social inclusion both for the sibling and their parents. It is important that we encourage new ideas that can enlighten families and ensure a wealthy mental especially as these children grow into adults.

The programme is strictly guided by parents permission and a child will not be allowed to a voice gathering or on a day date, fun tour or any trip without a permit.

Admission into the programme is FREE, date days fees and trip prices will be earlier addressed and communicated to the Parents / Family / Caregiver depending on the outing. Parents are encouraged to pick up and drop off their children at the right designated venues at the time specified. Parents are also encouraged to come on our dates as BUDDY GUIDES (Inclusive Dates Only) to meet other parents and other siblings.
